Un classico esempio di doppia esposizione, in cui il risultato è talmente incasinato che diventa “astratto”. Queste foto sono state scattate riesumando la Braun Paxina, una fotocamera medio formato decisamente massiccia che ormai ha quasi settant’anni.
A clear example of a double exposure, the result is so messy that we could say “this image is abstract”. I used a Braun Paxina, an almost-70-years-old medium-format camera, so heavy but at the same time so reliable after all these years.
No, la Braun in questione non c’entra con la più blasonata produttrice di elettrodomestici né con i peli superflui.
Questa Braun è diventata insolvente nel 2000 dopo esser stata nel campo fotografico per quasi mezzo secolo.

Nel 1950 hanno avuto l’ottima idea di mettere in commercio il modello “Paxina”, una fotocamera 6×6 alquanto spartana: corpo massiccio (quasi tutto metallo), 3 tempi e 3 diaframmi.
Ma andiamo per ordine.
La caratteristica principale è quella di avere la lente montata su un tubo quadrato che deve essere estratto dal corpo macchina, la leva di scatto magicamente esce allo scoperto e due alette laterali bloccano questo basilare meccanismo.

A questo punto si può scattare. Le combinazioni sono abbastanza limitate visto che i tempi sono 1/100, 1/30 e B mentre i valori di f sono 7,7 (perche?!), 11 e 22.
Scordatevi l’esposimetro, il mirino è galileano nonchè microscopico.

Probabilmente la messa a fuoco in questa fotocamera ha creato una specie di butterfly effect causa della rovina 50 anni dopo dell’azienda.
È veramente stretta e ci sono solo due zone in cui focheggiare, una va da 1 a 3 metri e l’altra da tre metri all’infinito.

Certamente stiamo parlando di una fotocamera d’altri tempi, massiccia e spartana, che non esito a definire a volte una vera e propria stronza.
Ma ha un suo fascino particolare ed è silenziosissima.
