Il Retinette (parte n di n)

Per la serie “a casa mia adesso va di moda il bianco e nero” ecco a voi l’ultimo post dedicato al/la Retinette. Ermetico.

This is the third and last post about my Kodak Retinette, it will be very very short. Black and white obviously.

Una serie di scatti che realizzata tra gennaio e febbraio di quest’anno.

I made this photographs between January and February.

Secondo me questa fotocamera ha ancora molto da dire, credo che inizierò ad usarla di più per fare street photography vista la sua silenziosità e leggerezza!

I think this camera will give me great satisfactions, I think I have to do more street photography to take advantage of it’s quietness and lightness.

 

…e per concludere: un bel mare d’inverno in bianco e nero. Lo so, sono un approfittatore.

Il Retinette (parte 2 di n)

L’anno scorso ho avuto proprio un bel regalo di Natale.
Come accennavo in questo post mia zia Ema Luz mi ha fatto trovare sotto l’albero un pacco particolare…
Il contenuto lo vedete nella foto qui sopra.
Ci ho messo un pò ma alla fine sono riuscito a capire che quella attrezzatura apparteneva ai miei nonni. Grazie intuito.
Come potete vedere il pacco conteneva due splendidi accessori e LA Retinette.

Last Christmas I received a beautiful gift.
As I said in this post, my aunt Ema Luz gave me an unusual box…
In the picture above you can see the items that were inside it.
Only after few seconds I realized that this was my grandparents photo-equipment.
There were a Kodak Retinette and two more bonus!

 La giovinastra si porta dietro qualche segno dovuto all’età sulla parte metallica anteriore, ciò nonostante fa la sua figura.

There are some signs of ageing skin but it’s still seductive.

Questa fotocamera ragiona “a coppie”: le ghiere diaframma tempo come potete vedere si trovano sul gruppo ottico. In pratica diminuendo il tempo gira anche il diaframma che si apre di conseguenza. Per settare indipendentemente il diaframma bisogna tirare indietro una leva sulla ghiera e girare. Più complicato a dirsi che a farsi.

Iris and shutter times settings are placed on the lens group, both move together because they’re coupled. In case you need to set only the aperture you have to pull a little lever and rotate the ring.

La leva di avanzamento è sotto il corpo, abbastanza comoda e rapida. A fianco si trova un sofisticato sistema a molle che nasonde il pulsantino di apertura dello sportello, una chicca!

The film advance lever is on the bottom and it’s quick and comfortable. Near there’s a sophisticated system to hide the button that opens the back. 

Il mirino galileano è centrale, quindi abbastanza affidabile per impostare l’inquadratura.
L’ottica è uno  Schneider 45mm f3,5, niente di entusiasmante dal punto di vista della luminosità.
Quello che invece sorprende è il rumore dell’otturatore Compur-rapid…è leggerissimo!

The viewfinder is galilean but is placed  just above the lens, so you can frame your photo more accurately.
The camera has a not-so-bright Schneider 45mm f3,5 , but the Compur-rapid shutter shocked me for it’s quietness!

La leva di avanzamento che finisce la sua corsa sul pulsante che la sblocca. Poesia.
LA Retinette è stata subito messa alla prova è si è rivelata una delle mie fotocamere più silenziose e compatte! A tutto questo va sommato il valore affettivo, in una parola BINGO.

The advancing lever fits perfectly with the release button, that’s poetry to me.
I started shooting with this Retinette just few days after and I have to admit that is one of my quietest and compact camera.
And it has a special meaning fot me.

Passiamo agli extra.
Dentro una piccola custodia in pelle, con tanto di nome ed indirizzo argentino del negoziante (dal nome suppongo anche lui emigrato italiano), ho trovato questo strano aggeggio: un incrocio tra uno spermatozoo e un cronometro.

Let’s talk a little bit about the extras.
The small case with the address of a shop in Bunos Aires contained a strange item…

Dopo diversi quarti d’ora riesco ad intuire che si tratta di un esposimetro esterno a fotocellula di selenio, il Bewi Amateur! Imposti gli ASA, apri lo sportellino e lui restituisce la lettura che regola le coppie tempo/diaframma. Un pò laborioso, ma una volta si faceva cosi.

That’s a wonderfull external light meter, the Bewi Amateur!
Just set the ASA and open the top, it reads the light amount and gives you back the rigtht cuple of iris/shutter time.

Secondo accessorio, non poteva mancare lo scatto remoto rigorosamente made in Germany.
