Le fotocamere prodotte negli anni ’60 mi fanno letteralmente impazzire. Molto simile a questa Agfa Optima II era la Zeiss di questo post.
Iniziamo però dicendo che l’Agfa era destinata ad un pubblico meno sofisticato, più terra terra, come piace a noi.

Le funzioni sono base e i settaggi intuitivi. La messa a fuoco sull’ottica Prontormator ha tre posizioni: due testoline – tre figurine – montagne con chiesetta. I tempi sono A (automatico) – sincro flash – e posa B. Nel caso abbiate azzardato quest’ultima potete anche cimentarvi con i diaframmi, che vanno da 2,8 a 22.

Functions are basic and the overall camera looks easy to use. When you are focusing on the lens you can choose between three positions: 2 little heads – 3 little puppets – a mountain with a church. Times are A (automatic) – flash sync – and B. If you choose the last option you can have some fun with iris! From 2,8 to 22…
Come detto l’esposizione in modalità A è completamente automatica e copre tutte le coppie da 1/30 a f2,8 fino a 1/250 a f22…è decisamente piacevole girare con una macchina così retrò senza doversi preoccupare di esporre! Quando si abbassa la leva di scatto (la trovate frontalmente a destra dell’ottica) nel mirino un simboletto da rosso diventerà verde e capirete che l’esposizione sarà giusta. Per tutto ciò bisogna dire grazie alla cellula al selenio. Grazie, veramente.

As I said before, exposition in A-mode is completely automatic and couples time and iris from 1/30 f2,8 to 1/250 f22. You shouldn’t have worries with an old camera like this for a good exposition and that’s a great thing! When you low the shutter button (that’s in front of the camera, near the lens group) a red spot in the viewfinder becomes green, then you’ll know that you’ll have a well-exposed picture. For this automatism we have to thank the selenium cell. Thank you selenium.
La leva di avanzamento è goduriosa come nella Zeiss Colora, è a portata di pollice destro ed ha un’escursione che sembra di caricare un’arma da fuoco. Nella parte superiore troviamo la slitta per il flash, l’impostazione per gli ISO (ASA/DIN) , il riavvolgimento della pellicola e l’attacco per lo scatto remoto. Sul retro in basso c’è il contapose.
…quasi dimenticavo, parliamo di una splendida 35 mm!

The advancing lever is exciting as in the Zeiss Colora: is near your thumb and feels like you’re loading some weapon. On the top we find a flash hot shoe, the ISO settings (ASA/DIN), the film rewinding knob and the plug for a remote shutter. On the back there’s the counter. Oh yeah…that’s a 35mm camera!
Tre anni fa mi sono quindi ritrovato a girare per Palermo con questa tedeschissima Agfa immerso nella calura settembrina. L’attività cerebrale era ridotta al minimo quindi posso affermare che l’esposizione automatica mi è stata di fondamentale aiuto.

Three years ago i was walking on Palermo, in Sicily with this Agfa, it was september and was really hot. My brain activity was very low so I can say that the automatic exposure was a great help for me!
La silenziosità e la velocità di scatto la rendono ottima per la street photography, certo non stiamo parlando di una camera piccolissima e leggera…gli va data fiducia in questi casi!

Speed and dumbness are great qualities for street photography, I know this is not a small little camera…but you have to trust it in it!
