Pescara del Tronto – New Town

Non so se “New Town” in questo caso sia una definizione corretta, fatto sta che Pescara del Tronto non esiste più dal 24 Agosto 2016. Oggi sulla Salaria esiste un nuovo agglomerato di case segnalato con lo stesso nome, poco lontano dal luogo del disastro.

I don’t know if “New Town” fits for this place, the fact is that Pescara del Tronto desn’t exists anymore. Since the 24th of August 2016.
Today on the Salaria road there are a bunch of houses and the road sign has the same name on it, not so far from the place where the earthquake destroyed everything.

Sono andato a fare un giro tra le casette prefabricate appoggiate alla strada statale, ho incontrato alcune simpatiche signore che oggi vivono li e affrontano il loro dopo-sisma.

I went there to see how they live now in those prefabricated houses.
I met some nice old women, they’re facing this new situation and this new life.

La nuova Pescara si trova ora in una zona pianeggiante, tra il fiume e la strada, insieme a piccoli insediamenti produttivi e un paio di negozi.

The new Pescara is located between a river and the road, near a some little factory and a couple of tiny store.

Questa volta ho portato con me una Minolta Dynax 600si Classic con un paio di rullini Rollei RPX 400.
Sicuramente ISO esagerati viste le condizioni di luce, purtroppo non avevo altro a disposizione.
Ho portato a casa un sacco di grana.

I shooted with a Minolta Dynax 600 si classic and Rollei RPX 400 film.
I know, too much ISO for that sunny day but I had no alternatives.
I bringed back home a lot of grain.

Ritorno al Pian Grande

L’ultima volta che sono stato a Castelluccio di Norcia credo fosse Luglio 2016, un mese dopo sarebbero iniziate le famose sequenze di terremoti.
Per molto tempo la strada per accedere al Pian Grande (da Arquata del Tronto) è stata impercorribile, è stata riaperta in un secondo momento solo per i mezzi autorizzati e solo da qualche mese è di nuovo praticabile.

It was July 2016 the last time I went to Castelluccio di Norcia, a month later the earthquakes began to shock that area.
The road to Pian Grande, from Arquata del Tronto, was then compromised.
Several months later it was accessible for authorised vehicles only, now the situation is under control and this road is open again.

In un altro post pubblicherò gli scatti fatti sulla strada che sale sul Monte Vettore, qui invece solamente fotografie dall’altopiano e dal paese.
Sono andato nei primi giorni di Marzo, c’era ancora un po’ di neve e ho incrociato pochissime auto. Castelluccio è ormai disabitato e la zona alta è completamente recintata in quanto zona rossa.

I went there in the first days of March, there was a few snow and I met only a small number of cars during my trip. Nobody lives in Castelluccio anymore and a great part of it has been marked as “red zone”.

Ho trovato solamente un paio di militari che stazionavano lì per sorvegliare, per il resto posso dire che la neve era intatta.
Ho scattato tutto questo con la Rolleiflex Automat e pellicola Rollei RPX 400 sviluppata in casa con R09.

I met two soldiers and they were there to surveil what’s left. Everywhere snow was untouched.
I took these photographs with my Rolleiflex Automat and a Rollei RPX 400 roll developed at home in R09.

буран – Roma bianca

La neve a Roma è cosa rara, di solito la città si paralizza dopo un temporale immaginate dopo una nevicata cosa può succedere. Quella mattina dovevo comunque andare a lavoro e sono uscito per prendere l’unico mezzo di trasporto a prova di nevicata, la metro.

The snow here in Rome is uncommon. Usually heavy rain is enough to stop the city, so think about what can happen with a snowfall. That day I had to go to work, so I went out to take the underground.

Ovviamente ho portato con me una fotocamera per documentare la “passeggiata”, la scelta è ricaduta sulla LOMO LC-A. Perché è russa, perché è piccola e perché è rapida da usare. Gli ho dato in pasto una pellicola veloce, la Rollei RPX 400, che ha tirato fuori un bel po’ di grana.

I picked up a camera to shoot some photographs of this “walk in the snow”, and that camera is the LOMO LC-A. Because it’s russian, because it’s small and because it’s fast to use. I also took with me a fast film, the Rollei RPX 400, that looks flat and grainy after the developing. 

Con la città imbiancata erano pochi gli impavidi in giro, soprattutto alle 9 di mattina. Queste però sono le rarissime occasioni in cui:
– non c’è traffico,
– l’aria sembra pulita,
– il 90% delle persone sembrano felici.

Probabilmente l’ultimo punto è dovuto al fatto che in molti hanno saltato il primo giorno di lavoro della settimana.

The city was completely white and only few people were on the street at 9 AM.
On these occasions in Rome:
– there’s no traffic,
– the air seems to be clean,
– 90% of people seems to be happy.

Probably because they don’t have to go to work in the first day of the week.
